A Mississippi Gulf Coast Christmas is something to look forward to. There is no snow on the ground unless you call the white sand beaches a good substitute for a white Christmas. Celebrate the holiday season by attending one of the many holiday events including the. Walk through the beautiful Christmas display at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. See the giant decorated Christmas trees at the Island View Casino and The Palace Casino.
There are so many events, that I decided to list as many as I could find in one place below. Some of the event dates occur early in December so plan accordingly. Christmas music can be heard all over the Gulf Coast of Mississippi in December. Plan your Gulf Coast Weekend or entire month and enjoy. Did I mention that the Mississippi Gulf Coast is open to Snowbirds?
Christmas on the Water in Biloxi
On December 7, starting at 6:00 PM, the 39th Annual Christmas on the Water Boat Parade will feature boats adorned with holiday lights parading between the Biloxi Lighthouse and the Small Craft Harbor. A spectacular fireworks display will follow the parade. The event is free, with optimal viewing areas along the shore between the Biloxi Lighthouse and the Beau Rivage Casino, as well as from the Small Craft Harbor to Casino Row.
Christmas on the Bayou in The city of Gulfport
Scheduled for December 14 at 6:00 PM, this annual boat parade on Gulfport Lake and Bayou Bernard showcases illuminated boats and decorated homes along the route. Public viewing areas are available at Gulfport Lake and the Cowan Lorraine Bridge
Downtown for the Holidays in Pascagoula
On December 6, starting at 5:30 PM, Pascagoula’s Downtown for the Holidays festival begins with the Christmas Tree lighting at Delmas Ave and Magnolia St. The Christmas Parade of Lights follows at 7:30 PM, culminating with fireworks. The event also features cookie decorating, letters to Santa, live entertainment, and a visit from Santa himself.
Christmas in the River City in Moss Point
On December 7, Moss Point’s Christmas in the River City event begins with the Audubon Christmas Marketplace at 9:00 AM, featuring vendor booths, food, crafts, bird banding, and photos with Santa Claus. The Moss Point Christmas Parade starts at 1:00 PM on Main Street, leading to Riverfront Park, where festivities continue with Santa’s Village, vendors, music, and the Christmas tree lighting. The day concludes with the Christmas by the River Boat Parade at 5:30 PM.
Bay St. Louis
- Christmas in the Bay: Scheduled for November 30, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, this event begins with a parade featuring decorated golf carts, marching groups, and Santa Claus. The parade starts at the State Street and 2nd Street intersection, winding through Old Town Bay St. Louis and concluding at the Historic Train Depot. Festivities continue at the depot with the lighting of the Christmas tree and a special Christmas movie screening.
- Christmas Crafting in the Bay: On December 14-15, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the Bay St. Louis Community Center will host a day full of shopping, food, and fun, featuring arts and crafts vendors.
Pass Christian
- Christmas in the Pass: Set for December 6, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, downtown Pass Christian transforms into a winter wonderland with local goods, crafts, and festive experiences. The event includes the lighting of the town’s Christmas tree, a holiday parade, vendors, a fireworks show, late-night shopping, and Santa sightings
Long Beach
- Breakfast with Santa: On December 7, 2024, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School will host a “Breakfast with Santa” event, featuring special guests The Lollipop Guild.
- Christmas in Long Beach: This event is scheduled for December 7-9, 2024, at the Long Beach Towne Center, offering free festivities for the community.
Diamondhead
- Christmas on the Town Green: Scheduled for December 14, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, this annual event begins with a Christmas parade starting at The Club at Diamondhead/Country Club Circle, proceeding down Golf Club Drive to Diamondhead Drive East, and concluding at City Hall. Festivities at the Town Green include visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, train rides, a photo booth, face painting, and holiday treats. Local businesses participate by distributing candy and other goodies.
D’Iberville
- D’Iberville Christmas Parade: Set for December 7, 2024, the parade lineup begins at 4:00 PM at Warrior Stadium (10500 Lamey Bridge Rd), with the parade starting at 5:30 PM and proceeding to the Town Green. A tree lighting ceremony will follow the parade, with Santa riding in the parade and attending the tree lighting. This event is weather permitting. Participation is open to Jeeps, golf carts, trucks with trailers, and ATVs, with Christmas decorations and lights encouraged
Ocean Springs
- Annual Tree Lighting with Santa: On Thursday, December 5, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the City of Ocean Springs will host its annual Tree Lighting at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center. The event features live music, singalongs, and opportunities for photos with Santa. Free refreshments will be provided.
- Holiday Open House: Scheduled for Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, beginning at 10:00 AM, local shops, restaurants, and galleries will offer specials on various items, including clothing, jewelry, and holiday décor. The event includes hot chocolate at the Ocean Springs Visitors Center, a holiday shopping guide, and chances to win prizes for purchases made during the event.
- Discover Christmas Parade: On Sunday, December 8, at 2:00 PM, the Discover Christmas Parade will take place in downtown Ocean Springs. The parade serves as a toy drive, with donations accepted at designated locations
Gautier
- Lights and Lagniappe on the Bayou: Set for Saturday, December 7, at 1:00 PM, this annual event offers family-friendly activities, including a Christmas parade, children’s crafts, bounce houses, and appearances by Santa, Rudolph, and the Grinch. Live music and holiday performances will entertain attendees, culminating in the Christmas tree lighting and a fireworks show.
- The Sound of Christmas with Chapel Hart: On Monday, December 23, at 6:00 PM, The Sound Amphitheater in Gautier will host a Christmas concert featuring Chapel Hart. Tickets are available for purchase.
Gulfport Harbor Lights Festival
The annual Gulfport Harbor Lights Winter Festival starts at the end of November and continues through December at Jones Park. Take the kids to Santa’s village at the Harbor Lights Festival. Don’t forget the carnival rides. The new tram from the main parking garage to Jones Park is open now.
Visit the Mississippi Aquarium with festive decorations, and check out “A Penguin’s Christmas Wish”. Santa will be available for photos until December 23.
Ocean Springs goes all out.
The giant old oak trees are wrapped with thousands of lights on the main streets. Shops are decked out with holiday spirit.
Sugar Plum Christmas Parade – Gulfport
On December 7 at 6:00 PM, downtown Gulfport hosts the Sugar Plum Christmas Parade, featuring festive floats, marching bands, and holiday treats. Community groups, businesses, and schools are encouraged to participate with Christmas-themed entries.
Visit the Gulf Coast Messiah Chorus which will perform a Christmas concert featuring selections from Handel’s Messiah on December 7. It’s free and open to the public.

Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Concert
The Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra will present a holiday concert featuring traditional and contemporary seasonal music, including excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” with guest dancers from the Belhaven University Dance Department. The performance is scheduled for December 14, 2024, at 7:30 PM at the Immersive Media Performing Arts Center (iMPAC).
