When we first published this guide to Mississippi Gulf Coast July 4th events and celebrations, dates and times were still being finalized—now the full schedule is live! You can explore the complete Mississippi Gulf Coast events calendar, including fireworks shows, parades, and family-friendly activities, by scrolling down and clicking on our event hub.
We also want to highlight two important updates for visitors and locals planning their Independence Day on the Coast. First, learn about the region’s rich history in our latest feature about
how the Mississippi Gulf Coast supported the American RevolutionSecond, if you’re celebrating in Ocean Springs, personal fireworks are permitted on Front Beach, provided they are safely discharged toward the water. This popular Fourth of July tradition is a favorite for families and visitors looking to enjoy a memorable coastal fireworks experience.
July 4th is always a meaningful time on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but the 2026 celebration promises to be a historic milestone. This year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, also known as the United States Semiquincentennial — a once-in-a-generation moment to honor American history, the pursuit of happiness, and the contributions of all Americans.
As the United States of America turns 250, communities from Moss Point to Waveland are preparing to take center stage in what is being called America’s biggest birthday bash — a series of special events celebrating our nation’s past, local history, and future generations.
Event schedules, fireworks launch locations, parking rules, road closures, ticket prices, and weather plans can change quickly. Always verify details with the city, venue, casino, park, or event host before attending.
Area Notes: D'Iberville residents can often view the Biloxi fireworks from Back Bay areas. Vancleave residents commonly travel to Ocean Springs, Gautier, Pascagoula, or Moss Point celebrations. Picayune and Wiggins are included because many Coast visitors and South Mississippi families search for those events during the July 4th holiday period.
Long Beach begins the celebration on Saturday, June 27. Ocean Springs, Diamondhead, Waveland, and George County area celebrations help turn the July 4th holiday into a full South Mississippi weekend.

🇺🇸 What’s Happening During America’s 250th Anniversary?
From the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to the streets of coastal Mississippi, the 250th birthday celebration will feature parades, fireworks, concerts, reenactments, military tributes (including from the Marine Corps), and inclusive anniversary observances.
In addition to events organized at local levels, the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, America250.org, and federal agencies like the National Park Service, National Archives, and Library of Congress are leading a nationwide campaign to bring our nation’s founding document — and the Declaration’s journey — to life.
You’ll also see the 250th recognized across the country in collaboration with:
- Independence Hall and the Museum of the American Revolution
- Citizens Bank Park, Wells Fargo Center, and Lincoln Financial Field
- National venues such as the Franklin Institute, Kennedy Center, and events like the MLB All-Star Game, FIFA World Cup, March Madness, and America’s Field Trip
These events and exhibitions reflect both the historic events of 1776 and today’s modern-day innovators, all working toward a more perfect union.

👀 Sneak Peek: Did You Know?
In 1776, the Mississippi Gulf Coast wasn’t part of the 13 colonies at all — it was under British control as part of West Florida. While America was declaring independence in Philadelphia, most of the people living along the Coast — speaking Spanish, French, English, and native languages — were still considered British subjects, going about their daily routines of fishing and hunting.
This is a great article about the first British subject to own land in Hancock County, MS, when the area was owned by Great Britain. Click here to read.
We’ve included this and other rarely told stories in our Historical Highlights section, along with an original infographic showing what life looked like on the Gulf Coast during the birth of a new nation.
📖 It’s part of a wide range of chronicles you’ll only find in our expanded guide.
